Registration Information for 2010 - 2011
Dear PJPII Parents and Guardians,
Thanks to your encouragement and support our school’s unique character has taken shape. Seeds planted have taken root; a respectful Christ centered culture, a strong academic program, and a vibrant community spirit have become the foundation of Pope John Paul II School.
At PJPII we strive to live our motto, Serving God, Seeking Knowledge, Building Community. Our students and teachers have been involved in an array of activities that promise to become annual events: celebrating the feast of Holy Rosary, monthly masses, prayer partners, Parade of Saints, Hungry Readers, PJPII PJDAY, Pot Luck Supper, Visiting Authors, Christmas Giving, Martin Luther King Day of Service, Book Fair, Breakfast with Moms and Dads.
In the second half of this year we will pray Lent together through class mass attendance, Stations of the Cross and prayer services; celebrate the May procession with a living Rosary; connect to the world around us with the Festival of Learning. In May we will elect our Eighth Grade Student Council Officers for 2010-11 and share in Field Day fun.
Our teachers and staff work hard to provide an academic program worthy of the sacrifices that you make. Our students are successful in diocesan competitions like Math League and It’s Academic, and have been awarded academic scholarships to high school. Our foundation is strong. We are poised to meet the challenges to grow.
Registration for the 2010 -2011 school year is now in progress. All information is available on our website. Registration packets will be sent to each family. You are encouraged to turn in your registration forms on February 23 during our Parent Evening to save $ 25.00 on the registration fee.
Looking forward to 2010 – 2011,
Respectfully,
PJPII Faculty and Staff

Catholic Schools - Dividends for Life: Faith, Knowledge, Discipline, Morals
Catholic Schools Week begins on January 31, 2010. This year's theme is
Catholic Schools~Dividends for Life
Faith, Knowledge,Discipline, Morals
At PJPII we are incorporating our Connections theme into Catholic Schools Week. The four points of our symbol of the Celtic Knot represent the four dividends of Catholic Education:Faith, Knowledge, Discipline and Morals.A Catholic Education has always been a hallmark of quality because Catholic Education's primary purpose is the formation of each child in the light of Christ. Faith, knowledge, discipline and morals are inextricably woven into Christian formation. One can only live a Christ-centered life through these attributes. The value of Catholic Education runs deeper than learning and understanding;it goes to the root of us.It nutures the timeless dignity of each person. Catholic Education ~ Truly Dividends for Life.
The schedule of activities for Catholic Schools Week is attached.

New Bells in School
The Bell/Buzzer system in school is now working. Buzzers signal the change of classes for upper grades and bells ring for the beginning and the end of each school day. Students MUST be in homeroom by 7:50am. Students arriving after that will be marked as tardy.
Eighth Grade Fundraisers
Thank you for your continued support of our 8th graders and their current fundraisers:
- Friendly's Night Out - February 16 (5pm to 9pm): We cordially invite all families of PJP and your friends to come out to eat at Friendly's on the Brandywine Parkway on Fat Tuesday anytime between 5 and 9pm. This is an important fundraiser, because we will receive a percentage of all meals purchased - so more the merrier! Thank you for supporting our 8th graders fundraising efforts and we look forward to seeing you there!
- Bake Sale: will be starting on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, beginning in January.
- Beanie Babies: are on display in the office and are on sale for $3.00 each.
- Valentines lollipops: are 25 cents each and students can send as many as they want to their friends starting January 25th until Valentines day.

Thank you for MLK Day of Service
On Friday, January 15, PJPII students participated in a Day of Service. All students and staff contributed toiletries to make more than 150 care kits for Friendship House to distribute. Grades 4 and 5 visited Foulk Manor North to meet residents and share in some activities with them. Grades Pre K through 8 participated in a Prayer Service for Peace and then all students worked together on Valentines to send to members of the military serving overseas. The day was a success. In addition to making a Day of Service an annual event, PJPII wants to establish ongoing partnerships with various organizations to ensure that service is a part of school life.
